20 SECONDS RESTRICTION ON AUDIO PROFILES!

Hey, just wanted to post a comment on the new restriction on audio profiles.

Whilst I understand that premium memberships have significant advantages like a 2 minute audio profile, I do feel that restricting non premium members to 20 seconds is a little harsh. It's barely enough to say "Hello"! Even 40 seconds would be sufficiant, whilst still making premium memberships significantly more benificial.

Well, just my observation for what it's worth, but hey, I haven't been around here for a while, and maybe everyone else thinks 20 seconds is addiquit.

and this is why I don't want a audio profile. the time restriction is too small.

I agree, though I do have one up.

Well, I was lucky enough to get mine up before they made it a 20 second restriction. I wish now that I had givven my age in the audio profile now, since I think most people listen to audio profiles more than they read the text profiles. Oh well, too late now, with only 20 seconds, my age would be all there'd be room for.

sorry people, we're sticking with 20 seconds. Thank you!

I think it's harsh too!!! And what about the people who can't afford paying for premium??? Living alone and being a full-time college student does lower the amount of green paper quite a bit!!! Thanks for the consideration!!!

I agree that 20 second is not enough. I had difficulty recording my profile in that small ammound of time.

Not my problem, most of you don't even have enough meaningful things to say to fill up 20 seconds anyway, if I were admin I'd get rid of them so that you guys couldn't advertise your pothetic lives.

Yeah well blindguy, you say
you don't want to know about our pathetic lives in our audio profiles and that you'd get rid of them. . Well what about your profile then?Your profile is longer than 20 seconds for a start, so you'd get rid of them if you could then? So you'd get rid of yours as well? I don't think so! you hypocrit. Some of them are actually creative! Shame I can't say the same about yours!Ok, in some cases people may say what they like doing, but it's done in a creative way.

I can agree with the suggestions here. I think a minute would be too long, but I personally think that 30 seconds would work great. I know how tough it is to cram any pertanent info in to 20 seconds sometimes, but.. hey.. it's part of the fun process here I suppose.

WEll, on the other hand premium membership is $25/year .. that equates to $2.1 roughly per month .. the price of a coke and a chocolate bar and given the amount of time a lot of people spend on here I would imainge this site gives them at least equal if not a lot more long lasting enjoyment than those mighty treats. So I really don't see why more people should not support the community they frequent so much and pay the membership fee and get full profiles. I personally don't care so much and I made the 20 second suggestion sinc the original plan was to allow no audio profiles for non premium members.

This has got to be one of the stupidest restrictions I can think of. You really can't say much in twenty secs. Oh well. Blame it on Liam. Lol.

I agree with Liam that 30 seconds should be enough time to say something. I've been wanting to update my audio profile myself, as I've clicked on it and I can't even hear myself without turning it up. (I would've changed it before, but there was a point where I didn't have my home computer and had to use the library's, which meant no access to a mic, and for a while when I did have my computer, I didn't have a mic, so yeah.) But yeah, I had tried to record a better message I would've liked to put on here but couldn't because there was so little time. So I think 30 seconds would be enough time to get my message on. Anyways, those who are able to pay premium would still be getting 3 times more seconds than us, so I think 10 more seconds (nothing more) would be fair to those who can't pay for whatever reason.

I agree with wildebrew if you can't pay for the zone you have a lot bigger problems if funds are that tight. I chose not to pay for it, and I also don't complain about how they get more features then I.

it always strikes me when someone says it's "not fair because i can't afford to pay", sadly this is life. after all, you wouldn't go into a restaurant and expect a free meal because you didn't have any cash? or expect to live rent free because you weren't working and didn't have money to pay the rent? it's the same with the site, you get what you pay for, and if you can't afford to pay, that's unfortunate, but that still doesn't entitle you to the same features as the people who can afford to pay.

I wouldn't expect to have the same features as premium members would, but my point was how could anyone record something in 20 seconds? I don't know, maybe it's just the fact that I naturally don't talk fast, (I've tried but if I speak naturally it's not fast), so I personally can't fit anything much in.? But yeah, I know premium members get 2 minutes for their audio profiles, so I certainly wasn't expecting for that much. But having 30 seconds would be enough just to say something, and unlike with premium, we still wouldn't be able to make it that elaborate which would be perfectly understandable. As for the examples of the restaurant and rent, I wouldn't expect a free meal or free rent as if I didn't have the money, I just wouldn't have the money and so I'd accept that I couldn't pay for it. What I was asking wasn't really the same though because I wasn't to be equal with what premium members are getting, just saying that 10 more seconds would be enought time to say something on an audio profile. If that were to happen, I wouldn't expect to have anything more because then that would be pushing things.
